According to reports, the legendary skipper was rushed to a Perth hospital and he also informed his colleagues that he was feeling alright. However, he decided to visit the hospital for precautionary checks after feeling unwell.

“Ricky Ponting is unwell and will not be providing commentary for the remainder of today’s coverage,” a Channel 7 spokesperson said as quoted by news.com.au.

As of now, Ponting’s current health status is yet to be known and at the same time, it also remains to be seen whether he will be able to resume his commentary duties in this Test match any further.

Ricky Thomas Ponting was a key member and the leader of the golden generation of the Australian cricket team. Apart from being a part of the Aussies’ three consecutive World Cup triumphs from 1999 to 2007, he also led them two back-to-back Champions Trophy triumphs in the 2006 and 2009 editions.

The Tasmania cricketer is currently contracted with the Delhi Capitals as their head coach and under him, the franchise made the playoffs in 2019, and 2021 and finished as the finalists of the 2020 edition.
