Team Australia star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the remaining matches against Zimbabwe owing to a minor ankle soreness with wicketkeeper Josh Inglis replacing him in the squad. The Men in Yellow will play the second Cricket World Cup Super League series match against Zimbabwe on August 31 (Wednesday).

Talking about Marsh's performance in the first ODI against Zimbabwe, the right-arm pacer bowled a total of six overs and grabbed one wicket of Innocent Kaia, and spent 22 runs. In batting, he could not do much as he was scalped for just two runs on the bowling of Ryan Burl.

While Marsh will miss the two remaining matches, he is expected to be fit again for the upcoming T20I series against India and then the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.

"With the focus on the upcoming T20 World Cup, set to be played in Australia later in the year, the focus will be on giving Marsh ample time to recover," said Steve Smith as quoted by Cricbuzz.

"He's been playing some good white-ball cricket recently," Smith told reporters on Tuesday. "The way we set up our team the other day with bulk allrounders, he was a big part of that. It's disappointing for Mitch but there's some pretty important stuff coming up. He was a big part of our T20 World Cup campaign last year and I'm sure there are big plans for him this year. The priority is to get him right for that."

As mentioned above, team Australia will take on Zimbabwe in the second ODI fixture to be played at the Tony Ireland Stadium, Townsville, on August 31 (Wednesday). The Men in Yellow will be looking to seal the series in the second ODI fixture, while the visitors will be keen to make a strong comeback in the three-match ODI fixture.
