Australia replaced India as the No.1 ranked Test team as per the latest ICC rankings. The Pat Cummins-led side is leading 2-0 in the three-match Test series against Pakistan and courtesy of the same, they have managed to dethrone India to take the number one spot. India, on the other hand, registered a historic seven-wicket win over South Africa in Cape Town after the match ended within just five sessions.
Ahead of the latest update, both Australia and India had 118 ratings to their name but the Rohit Sharma-led side were ahead on points. However, with two back-to-back victories over Pakistan, Australia managed to go on top, while India’s reign of being the No.1 team in all three formats came to an end. They became only the second team in history to become No. 1 across formats last September as they could retain their position for only four months.
India and Australia also occupy the top two spots in ODIs. The current world champions, Australia are currently second on the points table with a rating of 117 while India with 121 are leading the charts. When it comes to T20Is, India are way ahead of the other teams as they have 265 ratings, compared to England, who have 256 ratings and are second on the table.
Courtesy of their win over South Africa in Cape Town, India are also on top of the World Test Championship points table. They have a percentile of 54.16%, while South Africa are second on the table with 50%.
Coming to the players ranking, Kane Williamson retained his place as the No. 1 Test player. The former Kiwi skipper missed a significant number of Test matches in 2023 due to an unfortunate knee injury. Babar Azam meanwhile is the number-one ranked ODI player while Suryakumar Yadav holds his place as the number-one T20I player.
Among bowlers, Ravichandran Ashwin in Tests, Keshav Maharaj in ODIs and Adil Rashid in T20Is occupy the top spots.
