Team India are all set to face Ireland in the second match of the three-match T20I series at the Malahide Cricket Club, Dublin, on Sunday, August 20. After clinching a close victory in the opening match by a margin of just two runs as per the Duckworth Louis (DLS) method, the visitors will be aiming to secure the series tonight. As anticipation builds, cricket enthusiasts are speculating about the potential changes in the team lineup.
In the same vein, former India cricketer and selector, Saba Karim, shared his views regarding playing XI for Team India tonight. Karim believes that the visiting side can possibly make two changes for the second T20I against Ireland. Interestingly, he expects the young pacer Avesh Khan to make the cut this time by replacing Arshdeep Singh in the playing XI.
"I do expect one or two changes because this is a young side and there are one or two players who didn't have the opportunity to play so far, Avesh Khan, for instance, was part of the T20I side that toured West Indies but didn't get a chance to play. Therefore, there's a possibility that Avesh might be brought in, potentially replacing Arshdeep Singh," Saba said.
He highlighted the possibility of Avesh Khan making an appearance, potentially replacing Arshdeep Singh. Karim pointed out that Avesh Khan, who previously travelled with the T20I squad to the West Indies but didn't get a chance to play, deserves consideration for his impressive performances.
I would like to talk about Avesh Khan, he performed well in the IPL: Sarandeep Singh
Another expert and former international cricketer, Sarandeep Singh, echoed the sentiment of Karim and emphasized the significance of giving new talents like Avesh Khan a platform to shine. He commended Avesh Khan's skillful performances in last year's Asia Cup and the Indian Premier League (IPL), which earned him a spot in the West Indies tour lineup.
“You should definitely consider making some changes, as you've provided opportunities to several new faces. Speaking of new players, I would like to talk about Avesh Khan. He played in the Asia Cup last year, and this year he performed well in the IPL, showcasing exceptional bowling skills," Singh remarked.
As per Singh, Avesh Khan should undoubtedly be given a chance in that combination to prove his abilities and this could be the moment for Avesh Khan to showcase his prowess and contribute to the team's success. Indian team's eagerness to experiment and fine-tune their strategies has been quite evident from the past few months. The experts' viewpoints resonate with the coaches' emphasis on evaluating players and refining combinations. With India seeking to assert their dominance in the series, all eyes will be on the unfolding action at the Malahide Cricket Club.
