Babar Azam becomes fastest batter to 10000 T20 runs
Babar Azam has once again registered his name in the frecord books.
In the match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings in the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2024, Babar Azam has once again registered his name in the history books. The Pakistan-born cricketer broke the long-standing record set by former West Indian batter, Chris Gayle, as he emerged as the fastest batter to score 10,000 runs in T20 cricket.
It was at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore that Babar achieved this significant milestone. Peshawar Zalmi skipper's remarkable feat comes as no surprise to those familiar with his capabilities with the bat. Babar has been a consistent performer across formats, becoming one of the greatest batters of modern day cricket.
Babar Azam breaks Chris Gayle's long-standing record
Surpassing the legendary Gayle, who held the record for nearly seven years, Babar reached the milestone in 271st innings. Notably, other cricketing giants like Virat Kohli and David Warner trail behind Babar in this illustrious list, further highlighting the magnitude of his accomplishment. Gayle reached this mark in 285 innings, Kohli in 299 and Warner in 303 innings.

He showcased his brilliance in the opening match of the tournament against Quetta Gladiators, becoming the first batter in PSL history to reach the 3000-run mark. He could have reached the 10000-run mark in this match itself before being dismissed. Babar got out after scoring a valiant 72 runs off 51 balls, with the help of seven boundaries and one six.
