The World Cup 2023 is almost here as the teams are finalising their preparations for the mega event. Pakistan is one of the strong contenders for the World Cup as they will get to play in similar conditions in India as their home. However, the Babar Azam-led will miss the support of their fans throughout the tournament who might not be present in large numbers in India.

However, captain Babar Azam feels that they will get the same amount of support in India as well, as most of their matches have been sold out. Before leaving for India ahead of the big event, Babar said that he’s heard from former cricketers that they get support in India and is hoping for the same this time around as well.

“I’ve seen that all of our matches have been sold out even when we’re playing with other countries, the stadium is packed. It’s a good thing that the fans over there are supporting us and showering their love on us. Whenever we go there we get the love from their fans. I’m going for the first time but those who’ve gone there before have said that you get good support there. But we will miss our fans,” said Babar in the press conference.

The Pakistan captain was further asked about his below-par show with the bat vs India. Notably, Babar doesn’t have a great record vs India in both ODIs and T20Is having just one fifty-plus score to his name in 11 innings in both formats. Being asked whether he will turn the tables around this time, he said that he’s excited to play in a jam-packed crowd in Ahmedabad and will try to give his best for the team.

“I’m very excited to play in Ahmedabad it’s the biggest stadium and it will be jam-packed. I will try to give my best and try to perform well. I’m not too worried about my performance but try to do the best for my team. On the day, I will try to give my best and the almighty Allah will give me the best result,” he added.

Pakistan to play Warm up matches vs New Zealand and Australia

Notably, Pakistan will lock horns with India in a highly anticipated clash on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Ahead of their first league fixture vs Netherlands on October 06 in Hyderabad, Pakistan will start their campaign with warm-up fixtures against New Zealand on September 29 and against Australia on October 03. The ODI World Cup 2023 will get underway on October 05 with a game between England and New Zealand in Ahmedabad.
