Ban team members from having PR agencies: Harsha Bhogle

Any cricketer who performs well on the international stage garners immense attention. He not only becomes an integral part of the team but also fetches endorsements and sponsorship. Subsequently, they turn their face toward the Public Relations (PR) agencies to take care of the endorsements and sponsorships while also finalising upcoming deals. 

There were reports that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is bringing new rules into Indian cricket after their performance dip in the Test format post the T20 World Cup 2024 win. One of the rules that is reported to go on the floor is ceding the girlfriends and wives of cricketers accompanying them in tours. But ace commentator, Harsh Bhogle has put forward one request to BCCI and that is to ban cricketers from having a PR agency.

“Reading of the changes the BCCI is apparently suggesting for the Indian team. I don’t know how much to believe but if I had to nominate one rule to be strictly applied, it would be to ban team members from having PR agencies," Bhogle wrote in a post on his official X handle.

Cricketers and PR Agencies 

Speaking of the PR agencies, Shubman Gill is looked after by an agency called Corner Stone. Star India batter, Virat Kohli was also a client of the same company before he announced his allegiance with the new venture Sporting Beyond via a social media post in November 2024.

On the other hand, young talent like Rinku Singh is managed by Black Hat Talent Solutions. Another young batter, Yashasvi Jaiswal is being looked after by Meraki Sport. To further add, star cricketers such as Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Tilak Varma, Shreyas Iyer, Sai Sudharsan, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav and Krunal Pandya are managed by a single entity called RISE Worldwide.
