BAN vs IND: Deepak Chahar bowls just three overs after hamstring injury in second ODI

India's unfortunate injury woes were prolonged in the lead up to the second ODI against Bangladesh after Kuldeep Sen was ruled out of the decisive ODI due to a minor back issue. Things took a turn for the worse for the visitors after skipper Rohit Sharma injured his thumb in the early stages of the match. However, the killer blow came in the form of an injury to pacer Deepak Chahar, who walked off the field due to a hamstring issue, completing just three of his ten overs in the match.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was taken to the hospital for an X-ray after injuring his thumb while going for a catch in the slip cordon. But it was the injury to star pacer Deepak Chahar later in the innings that hampered India's progress in the match severely. Although Mohammed Siraj ensured a brilliant start for the visitors, Chahar's absence crippled the Indian bowling unit to a great extent.

Rahul Tripathi took the field in place of the injured pacer as Bangladesh completed a significant recovery to reach an above-par total of 271/7 on the back of Mehidy Hasan Miraz's maiden ton. Chahar's injury is a hammer blow for the Indian team as they are already without the services of Mohammed Shami for the ongoing ODI series. The 30-year-old has been troubled by injuries throughout the year, as he missed the IPL earlier this year due to a quadricep tear.

He made a return to cricket in India's tour of Zimbabwe and just when things were finally starting to look bright for the new ball bowler, he sustained another injury during the series against South Africa. His setback also ruled him out from the T20 World Cup in Australia. 

Despite his hamstring injury, Chahar came out to bat for the team, with India a batter short due to skipper Rohit Sharma's thumb injury earlier in the match.
