BAN vs IND: Mehidy Hasan bleeds after hard-fall while attempting catch
Mehidy started bleeding and was taken off the field for treatment, but returned to the pitch later.
Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz suffered an injury scare after getting hit in the face while attempting a flying catch in the second Test match against India on Friday (December 23). Mehidy gave his everything to take the one-handed catch but missed the ball and hurt his face while landing on the ground.
Shreyas Iyer was batting at 19 runs and had smashed a four on Taskin Ahmed's second delivery in the 44th over. Taskin next bowled a bouncer and Shreyas went for a square cut but the ball went straight to the gully position where Mehidy tried a brave effort to grab the catch but missed it and landed awkwardly on his face. The 25-year-old offspinner started bleeding and was quickly attended to by the team's physio. He was then taken off the field for further treatment
However, the player returned to the pitch quickly but Iyer's dropped catch proved costly for the hosts. Iyer went on to smash another unbeaten fifty as the Indian team managed to score 226/4 in 61 overs before officials called it for a tea break.
India struggled for a good start as they started Day 2 from 19/0 after bowling out Bangladesh for just 227 runs. The star spinner Taijul Islam took three valuable wickets of KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, and Cheteshwar Pujara in the first session. Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant looked confident for a much-needed partnership for the fourth wicket with some good cricketing shots in the middle.
But Taskin dismissed Kohli on 24 runs and India were struggling at 94/4 after 38th over. But Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer then pulled off an unbeaten 132-run partnership for the fifth wicket to guide India to 226/4 before a tea break. Iyer was playing on 58 runs and Pant was at 86* as India need just two runs to take a lead over Bangladesh in their first innings.
