Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by four wickets in the 3rd ODI to win the three-match ODI series.
Hosts, Bangladesh have clinched the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka by registering a victory in the third ODI by four wickets on Monday, March 18, at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, in Chattogram. After winning the toss Sri Lanka elected to bat first with Janith Liyanage top-scoring with 101* (102 ) and were bundled out for 235 runs. In reply, Bengal Tigers chased down the target in 40.2 overs as Tanzid Hasan (84 off 81) and Rishad Hossain (48 off 18) were the standout performers with the bat.
Sri Lanka got off to a miserable start by losing their openers Avishka Fernando (4 off 6) and Pathum Nissanka (1 off 8) early in the innings. Skipper Kusal Mendis (29 off 51) and Sadeera Samarawickrama (14 off 15) couldn't add many runs to the scorecard leaving their team on 74/4. However, Janith Liyanage (101 off 102) was the standout performer with his brilliant century bailing his team out of trouble. The visitors posted a decent total of 235 before being bowled out in their 50 overs.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz (2/38) and Taskin Ahmed (3/42) shared five wickets between them. Mustafizur Rahman who was playing his first match of the series also contributed with the ball picking two wickets. But the left-arm fast bowler couldn't complete his quota of 10 overs as he was stretched out of the field citing cramps. Soumya Sarkar completed the remaining over and picked up a wicket.

Chasing a modest total, the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side was determined to seal the series. The hosts lost their opener Anamul Haque (12 off 22) early. But Tanzid Hasan (84 off 81) was focused on bringing the series home. He along with Towhid Hridoy did provide some momentum to the team. But the Bengal Tigers kept losing wickets in regular intervals keeping the match in balance. Skipper Shanto and experienced batter Mahmudullah departed after scoring a run, respectively.

Following their dismissals, Mushfiqur Rahim (37* off 36) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (25 off 40) stitched a crucial partnership to keep Bangladesh's hope alive. But it was Rishad Hossain who with a quick-fire knock of 48 runs sealed the game for his side. Hossain was even awarded the Player of the Match award. Bangladesh finished their innings on 237/6. Lahiru Kumara was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka with figures of 4/48 in eight overs.
