The Bangladesh Cricket Board is all set to appoint David Moore as the Head of Programme of the national side. It is understood that Moore will work to bridge the gap between the national team and other units that are just behind the national team.

It includes the likes of the Bangladesh Tigers programme and the High-Performance Unit which will function under the Head of Programme (plan) led by Moore. The BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury confirmed the joining of Moore with the Bangla Tigers.

"We are all set to appoint him (David Moore) as our head of programme. Usually in this kind of position a candidate is appointed for two years,” told Nizamuddin as quoted by Cricbuzz.

"Suppose the national team needs a left-arm spinner. In that case, the head of programme will provide the best possible options available in HP Unit or the Bangladesh Tigers programme at that point in time because he will be aware of the programs that will be in place to form the pipeline for the national team," an official was quoted as saying while explaining the role.

"Nowadays, this is not the case and that makes things difficult but if one man is aware of where and how the HP and the Bangladesh Tigers programs are working, it makes things a lot easier," the official added.

Moore was previously appointed as the New South Wales general manager of cricket performance in 2014. Prior to taking up the role at NSW, he played one first-class game for the side in the 1980s.

Furthermore, he was also appointed as the head coach of the West Indies in 2007 after the departure of Bennett King and later served as the coach of Bermuda as well. From 2002-2004, Moore served as a senior coach at the Centre of Excellence in Australia.

Earlier, the BCB had shortlisted renowned coach Tom Moody and former national head coach Richard Pybus for the same position.
