Bangladesh and Pakistan have decided to revise their upcoming bilateral series by replacing the originally scheduled ODIs with T20Is. The decision was made in mutual agreement as both teams look to fine-tune their preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup in 2026 and the Asia Cup 2025.

As part of the Future Tours Programme (FTP), Bangladesh was initially set to tour Pakistan in May 2025 for three ODIs and three T20Is. However, after discussions between the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the two boards opted to replace the ODIs with a five-match T20I series. The Asia Cup, which will be hosted by India in September 2025, will also be played in the T20 format. The BCB official confirmed the changes, stating that the decision was made keeping the upcoming T20 tournaments in mind.

"We have decided to play T20Is instead of ODIs in the upcoming tour of Pakistan as we are planning to start our preparation for the next T20 World Cup as well as Asia Cup through that series. When Pakistan travels to Bangladesh, they are scheduled to play three T20Is," a BCB official confirmed to Cricbuzz.

Furthermore, Pakistan will travel to Bangladesh in July 2025 for another three-match T20I series. This tour was not part of the original FTP schedule but was arranged after discussions between the two cricketing bodies during the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy.

The official also revealed that the matches in Bangladesh are scheduled to be played in Dhaka on July 20, 22, and 24, just before Pakistan embarks on their West Indies tour. Meanwhile, the Men in Green are currently featuring in a five-match T20Is and three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Following the New Zealand series, the next focus will be on the Pakistan Super League (PSL), scheduled from April 11 to May 18.
