Skipper Rohit Sharma has said that the upcoming three-match One Day International series against Bangladesh is not going to be a cakewalk for India by any means and they will need to play out of their skins in order to come out on top. The first game will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday, December 4.
Notably, the last time India had visited Bangladesh for a bilateral ODI series back in June 2015, they were handed a 1-2 loss by the Mashrafe Mortaza-led side and that is what could be playing on the back of Rohit’s mind heading into this series. Apart from respecting the opposition, Sharma has also mentioned that the Indian team’s main aim is to win the One Day series.
It will be an exciting series: Rohit Sharma
“I think it’s been an exciting rivalry over the years but over the last 7-8 yrs they have been a different team and been very challenging and we have not had easy wins. In the T20 World Cup, it was a close game. It won’t be a cakewalk for us because they are a much-improved side,” said Rohit during the pre-match media interaction.
“It will be an exciting series, Bangladesh is a challenging team and we have to play well to beat them. They will be competitive in their own backyard,” he added.
Rohit Sharma along with the likes of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, etc. will be back in action after being rested for the recently-concluded white-ball tour of New Zealand. The ‘Hitman’ was last seen in action during the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Down Under.
India enjoyed a good campaign finishing as the table-toppers in Super 12. Nonetheless, a humiliating 10-wicket defeat in the semis against the eventual champions England brought curtains down on their campaign. On a personal note, Indian skipper would be hoping to regain his lost mojo with the bat in the three-match ODI series.
