Bangladesh's veteran batter and stumper Mushfiqur Rahim shattered the record book today when he went bonkers with his stellar batting masterclass. Rahim took just 60 balls to complete his scintillating century in the ongoing 2nd ODI against Ireland in Sylhet on Monday. Furthermore, this historic inning from Rahim meant that Bangladesh registered their highest-ever total of 349/6 in their ODI history. Notably, not long ago they had surpassed their previous best.

During his blitzkrieg, Rahim hit 14 boundaries and two sixes in his unbeaten century knock. More importantly, the 35-year-old stitched a crucial 128-run partnership with Hridoy to get the hosts back on track from early jolts against Ireland. In another notable performance, Najmul Hossain Shanto registered his third ODI half-century.

Earlier, Bangladesh's legendary all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan had played a scintillating century knock against Zimbabwe back in 2009 and held this record for 14 years. Hasan had completed his century in 63 balls. Additionally, Rahim has also added another feat to the record galore.

Mushfiqur Rahim becomes only the Third Bangladesh batter to get enlisted in the 7000-run club

The star Bangladesh batter Mushfiqur Rahim on a record-breaking day has now become only the Third Bangladesh batter to register 7000 runs in their ODI history. Notably, Rahim achieved this feat in the second ODI of the three-match ODI series against Ireland. Only Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal are the two other batters in the elite club.

The flamboyant wicketkeeper-batter was 55 runs shy from attaining this landmark before the 2nd ODI. It was during the 44th over of the Bangladesh innings that Rahim hit Curtis Campher over the mid-off region to score a memorable boundary. Moreover, he took 14 and 22 innings more than Iqbal and Hasan to reach this milestone. It is worth mentioning that this was Rahim's 230th innings in his 245th appearance for Bangladesh.
