Bangladesh have been gradually crawling back to normalcy after a political uproar. After incessant riots, the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 was shifted from the country to UAE. Things seem to have started working for the cricketing prospects of the country as the impending two-match Test series against South Africa will likely take place in Dhaka and Chattogram respectively.

The Test series is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle. Before the decision can be zeroed on, Cricket South Africa (CSA) will consult the South African Cricketers Association (SACA) over players travelling to Bangladesh. The series is an almost sealed deal, looking at South Africa has not issued any travel advice against visiting Bangladesh.

South Africa to land in Bangladesh on October 16

Moreover, the security concerns which could have been the concerns have been ruled out of the picture. With BCB unveiling the itinerary, as per Cricbuzz, the Proteas will land in Bangladesh on October 16. Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium will host the first Test on October 21. The second Test is scheduled to be held at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on October 29. The visitors' return flight is scheduled for November 3.

"We are hopeful that the tour will commence as per schedule and we will officially announce it in the coming days," a BCB official said.

Bangladesh are coming off a comprehensive series win against Pakistan as they whitewashed the hosts by 2-0. The Bangla Tigers have landed in India for the upcoming two Tests and three T20Is during their almost four-week stay. The first Test will commence on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
