Bangladesh's Tamim Iqbal rushed to hospital due to severe chest pain during domestic List-A game

The 36-year-old former Bangladesh batter experienced discomfort during the first innings of the Dhaka Premier League match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club.

The Bangladesh cricket fraternity has witnessed an upsetting incident as legendary batter and former Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal was rushed to the hospital after suffering chest pains during a Dhaka Premier League match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) ground in Savar. 

Tamim Iqbal is one of the biggest legends for Bangladesh who has played 387 international matches for his country before retiring in 2023 after an ODI match against New Zealand. The 36-year-old was recently seen playing in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League for Mohammedan Sporting Club who were put into field first by the Shinepukur Cricket Club on March 24. Tamim while fielding was seen facing some discomfort during the game. 

Initially, there was a helicopter that was arranged for Tamim to reach the hospital but could not be flown at all. Tamim was then immediately taken to the Fazilatunnesa Hospital which was nearby to the venue. Tamim Iqbal was also leading the side during the tournament and the team was having a great season so far winning five and losing two from the seven matches they have played so far. Iqbal was also the highest run scorer in the tournament for his team scoring 368 runs at an average of 73.60. 

Tamim Iqbal's achievements in international cricket 

Tamim had played international cricket for 16 years before retiring from the game and is one of the decorated batters for Bangladesh in international cricket. He is the second-highest run-scorer in all formats of the game with 15192 runs to his name only behind wicketkeeper batter and former teammate Mushfiqur Rahim

He has scored 25 international centuries which is the most by any Bangladesh batter and also holds the record for the most runs for his nation in ODI cricket scoring 8357 runs at an average of 36.65 in 243 matches. He was also a part of the 2007 ODI World Cup squad and played a role in one of the greatest upsets in international cricket where the team defeated India in the group stages. Iqbal scored a crucial half-century during the game.
