The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) recently came forward with a major announcement that their upcoming all-format away series against Afghanistan which was originally set to be held in July 2024 has been rescheduled.

It is worth noting that the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) was expected to host Bangladesh in a series which consisted of two Test matches, three ODIs and three T20Is after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2024.

BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus came forward to break the news of the series being rescheduled. "The away series against Afghanistan will be rescheduled after both boards agreed to play the series at some other point of time," Yunus told Cricbuzz.

It is interesting to note that Bangladesh were supposed to compete in 12 Test matches in 2024, but several changes will see them playing only eight Tests in the year. However, this does not mean that the side will have a lenient schedule as they will be travelling to Pakistan for a two-match Test series after the T20 World Cup 2024.

The same will be followed by the tour of India to play a series comprising two Tests along with three T20Is. Furthermore, in the latter stages of 2024, Bangladesh will be hosting South Africa for a two-game Test series, with them travelling to the West Indies to play two Tests along with three ODIs and three T20Is in November and December.

Bangladesh look to level Test series against Sri Lanka

Speaking of the side’s ongoing assignments, Bangladesh are currently facing Sri Lanka in a two-game Test series. Hosting Sri Lanka, Bangladesh faced a loss in the first Test after a dominant display by the visitors.

However, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, the hosts will look to put in an improved performance in the second and final test of the series. For the second Test, both sides took centre stage at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram from March 30.
