The Sydney Thunder have decided to terminate Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi’s services with immediate effect due to behaviour issues. An action was taken instantly against the left-arm speedster following a disciplinary complaint which resulted in an investigation by Cricket Australia (CA).

The complaint was regarding an incident last week following which the matter was escalated to the Cricket Australia's Conduct Commissioner. The commission decided to pass a verdict against the fast bowler and the Sydney-based franchise instantly decided to part ways with him.

Our focus now is providing the necessary support to those affected by this incident: Cricket NSW CEO

"The behaviours displayed by Fazalhaq Farooqi sit outside our values and it was determined that his contract be terminated,” said Cricket NSW CEO Lee Germon as quoted by the Sydney Thunder on their official website.

"Our focus now is providing the necessary support to those affected by this incident,” it added.

"Sydney Thunder have terminated the contract of Fazalhaq Farooqi, following a hearing held by Cricket Australia's Conduct Commissioner," the release read.

Meanwhile, the Thunder are yet to name a replacement player for Fazalhaq Farooqi and it remains to be seen who will be zeroed in by them as the 12th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) progresses.

Farooqi was roped in as an overseas replacement for England left-arm pacer David Willey after the latter withdrew from the competition. The Afghan pace sensation did succeed in creating a good first impression with the ball in hand for the Sydney-based franchise.

He finished with figures of 2/20 in the curtain-raiser against the Melbourne Stars and showcased an even better performance with figures of 3/20 against the Adelaide Strikers.

As far as their collective performances are concerned, the Sydney Thunder need to do a lot of work as they are currently languishing at the seventh position in the  BBL points table having managed just a solitary win from their four outings. Thunder only have two points to their tally at a dismal NRR of -1.703.
