BBL 2023-24 Schedule: BBL Schedule Date, Time, Fixtures, Teams, Venue details announced

Cricket Australia announced the schedule for the 13^th edition of the Big Bash League on Thursday, July 06. The tournament will feature eight teams going against each other in 44 matches which includes 40 league games and four knockout fixtures. The runners-up of the last edition, Brisbane Heat, will kick off the season with a home game against Melbourne Stars at the Gabba on December 7.

On the other hand, defending champions Perth Scorchers will get their campaign underway against Melbourne Renegades on December 10. The tenure of the upcoming season has been reduced as the teams will be playing ten league games instead of 14 played in the last edition. Furthermore, there will be no matches played on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

However, the Boxing Day (i.e December 26) will feature a double-header with Sydney Sixers hosting Melbourne Stars, and Perth Scorchers taking on Melbourne Renegades. The BBL 2023-24 will also feature a new format for the knockout stages.

Earlier, the top five teams from the BBL Points Table qualified for the knockouts. However, under the new format, teams finishing in the top four positions on the points table will lock horns in the knockouts.

Teams finishing on the first and the second spot will take on each other in the ‘The Qualifier’ on January 19 for direct passage into the 'The Final'. On the other hand, the third and fourth-ranked teams face off in ‘The Knockout’. The winner of ‘The Knockout’ will then play the loser of 'The Qualifier' in 'The Challenger’ on January 22. 

The winner of 'The Challenger' will get the second spot in the final and will take on the winner of 'The Qualifier' on January 24.
