After retiring from Test cricket, David Warner is hopeful to make it in time for the upcoming Sydney Smash, which is slated to take place on January 12. The southpaw is scheduled to travel to the north of Sydney for his brother’s wedding soon and stated that there are a couple of aircraft booked to assist him in flying back to the city before the start of the play.

Meanwhile, Sydney Thunder are hopeful that Warner will be available for the final three games of the season, that is against the Sixers, Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades. Warner however stated that it is tight for him to make it to the Sixers game, but he is willing to try his best.

“I've got a couple of aircrafts booked, pending weather. It's a fine line. I might be tight but I'm trying my best to make it work for that day,” Warner was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

I definitely am keen to pursue playing Big Bash next year: Warner

Warner’s contract with Sydney Thunder comes to an end after the current season. However, the 37-year-old is keen to continue playing in the Big Bash League next season. He has a contract with Fox Cricket for commentary for the upcoming summer, in which India will travel to Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The opener is said to find some time to feature in the tournament but doesn’t want any team to change their balance to accommodate him.

“I definitely am keen to pursue playing Big Bash next year," he said. "There's going to be conversations behind the scenes to allow me to do that. Obviously, I've joined the Fox commentary team next year during the Test series against India, which I'm looking forward to.

“There's a BBL window that we're able to play…so I would like to play that in and around the commentary stuff. I've just got to make sure that I'm, one, playing to the best of my ability and, two, not hindering the team's performances or upsetting the balance of the team,” he added.
