The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) recently came forward and issued a statement clearing the air around rumours that had been circulating which suggested that Bangladesh’s players were not compensated for competing in the ODI World Cup 2023.
Even after nine months from the conclusion of the tournament, the rumours suggested that the Bangladesh players were yet to be paid. However, the BCB made it clear that the delay in payment has not been due to any fault of the board but has been due to taxation formalities and compliance issues.
They also revealed that such delays are common after major ICC events, and a solution is almost always provided. Furthermore, their statement revealed that the BCB is taking several measures to speed up the process, assuring the players that they will be credited.
"The BCB strongly refutes the untrue remarks made by the concerned councilor and vehemently protests the insinuations of malpractice against the Board and its officials on this matter. Such allegations are baseless and undermine the integrity of the BCB's operations," the statement read.
Furthermore, the BCB finds themselves in quite a predicament currently due to the political unrest in the country. However, despite the political tensions, the BCB is taking every measure possible to continue cricketing activities.
