The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the introduction of prize money to reward outstanding performers across various levels of the sport for both men and women.

This initiative, confirmed by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, will be an important step towards recognizing and motivating talent at the grassroots level.

By introducing monetary rewards, the board aims to boost morale and encourage players to strive for excellence in domestic tournaments, which have long served as the raising ground for national team prospects. Shah elaborated on the scope of this new reward system.

"We are introducing prize money for the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament in all Women’s and Junior Cricket tournaments under our Domestic Cricket Programme. Additionally, prize money will be awarded for the Player of the Match in the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments for Senior Men," Shah wrote on X.

The prestigious Ranji Trophy is scheduled to begin on October 11, while the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy will take place in November and December, respectively.

"This initiative aims to recognize and reward outstanding performances in the domestic circuit. A heartfelt thank you to the Apex Council for their unwavering support in this endeavour. Together, we are fostering a more rewarding environment for our cricketers. Jai Hind," he added.
