A day post the annual general meeting of the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) will see the inauguration of the newly-built National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The inauguration has been confirmed by the BCCI for Saturday, September 28.

Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, passed on the information on the same via an email to the state associations.

The email communication pertained to the invitation for the inauguration of the state-of-the-art facility on the said date. It also entailed a lavish list of the amenities the provision would comprise.

“I hope this message finds you well. It is our pleasure to extend an invitation to you for the much-anticipated inauguration of the new National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, India, on September 28. The new NCA will feature three world-class playing grounds, 45 practice pitches, indoor cricket pitches, Olympic-size swimming pool and state-of-the-art training, recovery, and sports science facilities. This initiative will help our nation's current and future cricketers develop their skills in the best possible environment!,” Shah's email read, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Through the email, Shah also extended a warm invitation to the various stakeholders to be there on the grand day.

“Your support in this groundbreaking project has been most valuable, and we sincerely hope that you can spare some time from your busy schedule and grace us with your presence,” added Shah.

BCCI's hunt for new chief on the cards

The NCA is currently headed by VVS Laxman. His tenure will be coming to an end soon. Disinterested to continue for another term due to personal concerns, the board is now on the hunt for a new chief to foresee and takeover from the able hands of Laxman.

Notably, both the current regulars and the potential inclusions in the national setup have access to the NCA. What happens to the old NCA, neighbouring the city's historic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, remains to be seen.
