BCCI records 72 per cent boost from ICC's revenue share

BCCI has received a huge boost of 72 per cent in its revenue allocation from the International Cricket Council. The news was communicated via an email from BCCI Secretary Jay Shah to all the state associations following the ICC's acceptance of the new revenue distribution model at its Annual Conference in Durban.

Under the new model, the BCCI's allotment of revenue has surged from 22.4% to 38.5%, signifying a remarkable leap of approximately 72%. This escalation serves as a testament to the collective endeavours and backing of the state associations and BCCI members.

The growth in revenue distribution can be ascribed to a groundbreaking media rights agreement between the ICC and Indian broadcaster Disney Star. The extraordinary $3.1 billion, four-year television rights deal has been essential in improving the BCCI's financial outlook. The value of the previous eight-year broadcast arrangements was only $1.9 billion.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah expressed his gratitude for this achievement and recognised the contributions made by all parties involved.

"This is a significant increase in BCCI's share. This achievement is a testament to the collective efforts and support of all our state associations and my colleagues at the BCCI," he stated as quoted by Cricbuzz.

In addition to its revenue allocation, the BCCI has argued that a sizeable sum of money should be sent to the ICC's strategic fund. The expansion of cricket and the game itself will be greatly aided by this money.

Arun Singh Dhumal, the IPL chairman, attributed this accomplishment to the visionary leadership of the BCCI. He remarked, "The BCCI has fortified its global stature as a visionary board under the astute guidance of Mr. Jay Shah. It was merely a matter of time before its contributions to the game of cricket were acknowledged by the ICC."
