The electoral officer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), AK Joti has quashed objections against former India cricketer Roger Binny who is all set to be appointed as the next President of BCCI. Notably, the objections have come from two members of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), AM Ramamurthy and N Shripathi.

The first objection made was based on the eligibility of the body's managing committee to nominate/appoint representatives to participate in the BCCI election and AGM (Annual General Meeting). The two members noted that the managing committee's term had come to an end on October 3, thereby suggesting the nomination of Binny to be illegal.

The other point was about the managing committee failing to call for the AGM or conduct elections for the KSCA and Joti rejected both objections after verifying with the KSCA. The AGM meeting is scheduled to be held on October 18 and Binny is all set to be announced as the next president.

On verification with KSCA, the objections stand rejected: AK Joti

Joti mentioned that he has verified with KSCA over the dates of AGM meeting and noted that it was done with prior permissions seeked with the concerned boards. He further mentioned about Binny's nomination being legal in all aspects.

"On Verification with KSCA it was found that KSCA have filed representations to the Office of District Registrar of Societies vide Letters dated 12 September 2022 and 14 September 2022 seeking permission to conduct the AGM and Election on or before 31 December 2022. The Office of District Registrar of Societies vide its Letter dated 19 September 2022 has granted permission to the KSCA to conduct the AGM and Elections on or before 31 December 2022," Joti stated as quoted by Cricbuzz.

"Furthermore, nomination application filed on behalf of KSCA Nominating Mr. Roger Binny as Representative of KSCA is found to be complete in all aspects. Taking into account the Facts stated above, the objections stand rejected," he added.

Sourav Ganguly wasn't re-elected as the president of the BCCI after his recent conflicts with the board and it has now provided an opportunity for Roger Binny. The former Indian all-rounder was part of the 1983 World Cup winning team and has worked as a national selector in the past.
