'Behind the scenes, it's ICC vs BCCI' - Rashid Latif makes straightforward remark on Rohit Sharma's press conference after WTC Final

On June 11 at The Oval in London, Team India suffered a humiliating 209-run defeat to Pat Cummins-led Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. The post-match press conference of India skipper Rohit Sharma sparked debates on social media. Rohit discussed his team's failure during the one-off Test, the scheduling of the final, and the limited use of technology for important umpiring decisions.

For the WTC final, Rohit agreed to a three-match Test series. The 36-year-old also indicated that June is not the only month for the summit clash to take place. He added that the championship game can be held anywhere in the world, not just in England.

"I would prefer a best-of-three final for the World Test Championship as it would be ideal to compete over 3 Tests after all the hard work, over 2 years, in reaching the final. However, we need to find a window for that. It would be ideal if there are 3 Tests in the next cycle. June is not the only month to play the WTC final. It could be played anywhere in the world, not just in England," Rohit Sharma said during the post-match press conference.

In addition, India's captain stated that more camera angles should have been shown, mentioning Shubman Gill's controversial catch in the second innings. He further stated that just one or two camera angles were shown during the WTC final, pointing out that the Indian Premier League (IPL) has ten different angles. 

Rohit hit the ICC directly: Latif

Rashid Latif, a former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter, has now commented on the India captain's remarks, claiming that this was Rohit's way of mocking the International Cricket Council (ICC). Latif stated that Rohit mentioned a shortage of camera angles and that he is targeting the ICC with his accusations.  

“He asked the ICC directly. 'Why in June?' I had said the same thing earlier. And why only in England? Who was he telling all this to? ICC, of course,” Latif said on his official YouTube channel.

“On Shubman Gill's catch, he talked about the lack of camera angles. He hit the ICC directly. Behind the scenes, it's ICC vs BCCI. The 38.5 percent increase that you read about (report that BCCI will receive 38.5 percent of ICC's earnings)... there's no ICC release on that. It was a report on a website. Who wrote that? There is conflict of interest,” Latif added.
