Bengaluru Metro extends services for IPL 2025 match days – Check new timings
Metro service schedule adjustments for IPL
The Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL) season is underway, and the excitement is set to reach Bengaluru on April 2. The renowned venue, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, will host the first match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT).
On all match days in Bengaluru, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced an increase in metro services to accommodate the rise in commuters. BMRCL aims to facilitate fans, particularly for late evening matches, by ensuring the availability of public transport for a safe journey home. This adjustment in operational hours reflects BMRCL’s responsiveness during the IPL season. Additionally, the restructuring of metro services encourages the use of mass transit, helping to reduce traffic and enhance security.
As per India Today, BMRCL has urged all passengers to take note of these changes and stay updated on further announcements regarding service adjustments. This move reflects Bengaluru’s adaptability to urbanisation and its commitment to supporting both residents and visitors during one of the year’s largest sporting events.
Metro service schedule adjustments for IPL match days
As there is always an increase in commuters during the IPL season, BMRCL has made changes to the schedule. The last services at any of the four terminal stations—Whitefield (Kadugodi), Challaghatta, Silk Institute, and Madavara—will now depart at half past midnight (12:30 AM).
The last service from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station, Majestic, will be at a quarter past one (01:15 AM), enabling travel in every direction. This will give fans enough time to reach metro stations after matches, which often conclude late at night.
Extended metro service dates for IPL matches
To accommodate the surge in commuters during IPL 2025, BMRCL has extended metro services on match days in Bengaluru. The revised schedule will be in effect on April 2, 10, 18, and April 24, along with May 3, May 13, and May 17, respectively.
These adjustments ensure that fans can travel conveniently after late-night matches, reinforcing BMRCL’s commitment to providing seamless public transport during major sporting events.
