New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has handed, the Auckland Aces' hard-hitting middle order batter, Bevon Jacobs his maiden international call-up for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka which is set to begin on December 28.
Jacobs' selection was made after his brilliant domestic season and an impressive performance in the Super Smash T20 tournament, where he scored 134 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 188.73 for Canterbury Kings. He also recently earned a contract with the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2025 auction. After starting his career with Auckland, he moved to Canterbury, where he made his List A and T20 debuts.
Bevon Jacobs is part of a young New Zealand squad, with fellow emerging players Zac Foulkes, Mitch Hay, and Tim Robinson also included. This series will be their first opportunity to display their talents on home soil, having made their international debuts in abroad earlier this year.
Santner takes charge as full time NZ Captain in limited over formats
Notably, under the guidance of stand-in Head Coach Luke Ronchi, all rounder Mitchell Santner will captain the side for the first time as New Zealand’s full-time white-ball leader, while players like Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, and Matt Henry return to the team. This series is the Kiwis' final ODI bilateral series before the Champions Trophy.
