The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season kicked off with a brilliant match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Chennai. In the 17th edition, the spotlight shifted to Ruturaj Gaikwad, who took over the captaincy duties from the legendary MS Dhoni who had previously led the franchise to five titles.

While the on-field action kept fans busy, an off-field moment stole the limelight, courtesy of Virender Sehwag's witty remark. CSK's new captain Gaikwad was making his captaincy debut. However, despite the change in leadership, Dhoni's presence on the field was hard to miss, as he was seen setting the field for CSK actively.

'Sirf Dhoni ka hi chehra dikha raha hai' - Virender Sehwag

As Dhoni was seen making the field placements, the camera operators seemed to be fixed on the former captain, capturing his every move. This visual did not go unnoticed by the ever-sharp Sehwag, who said, "Bhai Ruturaj ka bhi chehra dikha do ek do baar (in camera) vo bhi captain hai sirf Dhoni ka hi chehra dikha raha hai (Brother, Please show Rituraj's face as well (in camera), he is captain. The cameraman is showing only Dhoni's face)," Sehwag could be heard saying on air.

Coming to the match, Mustafizur Rahman's stellar performance with the ball helped the hosts restrict RCB to a total of 173/6. The Bangladesh bowler picked up four wickets and was awarded the Player of the Match award. CSK's chase was anchored by the experienced Ravindra Jadeja, who scored an unbeaten 25. Along with him, tall left-hander Shivam Dube also chipped in with unbeaten 34 runs to help CSK seal the match.
