The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) has taken a significant step towards strengthening the growth of women's cricket in the state by establishing a Women's Cricket Development Committee. This move aims to encourage and support the participation of young women cricketers, aligning with the recent success of the Women's Premier League (WPL) in the country.

The BCA's decision to form the Women's Cricket Development Committee is a direct response to the growing emphasis on promoting and developing women's cricket by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The committee's establishment reflects the BCA's commitment to nurturing women's cricket talent in Bihar and providing the necessary infrastructure and opportunities for these players to thrive.

Actively working to engage young women in cricket: Rakesh Tiwari

According to BCA president Rakesh Tiwari, the Women's Cricket Development Committee has been formed to specifically focus on engaging and empowering young women in the sport of cricket. The committee is actively working towards this objective, with the BCA pledging to provide better infrastructure, employment opportunities, and competitive platforms for the players.

"The promotion and development of cricket among women in the state have been given special attention by the BCCI. To further this objective, a Women's Cricket Development Committee has been formed, which is actively working to engage young women in cricket," Rakesh Tiwari said in a statement.

"The Bihar Cricket Association is committed to the development of cricket in Bihar, working towards better infrastructure, employment opportunities, salaries, and more. The results of these efforts will be visible very soon," added Tiwari.

The BCA's efforts to support women's cricket extend beyond the formation of the committee. The association is currently hosting the Randir Verma U-19 Tournament 2023-24 and a men's Senior Inter-District One Day League 2023-24, both aimed at identifying and nurturing raw talent across the state.

The president of the BCA emphasized that these tournaments serve as a crucial step in the selection process, with the chosen players receiving specialized training from certified BCCI coaches.

"Every year, the Bihar Cricket Association organizes domestic cricket tournaments for its young players across various levels and age groups. Based on these competitions, talented players are selected for Bihar's team. These selected players receive specialized training facilitated by certified coaches from the BCCI," he concluded.
