BPL 2023: Final squads of all teams after player drafts
Unmukt Chand is the only Indian player to participate in the tournament.
The ninth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League is set to be played from January 5, 2023, and the tournament will go on till February 16, 2023. The draft for the upcoming edition of the league was held on Wednesday, November 23, and the event saw quite a few big players switching to other teams and some big names being included in the list of overseas players.
Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, who represent the Fortune Barishal and the Comilla Victorians will continue to play for their respective franchises, whereas Nurul Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal and Nurul Hasan have found themselves a new team as they now join the Rangpur Riders, Sylhet Strikers, and Khulna Tigers respectively.
Notably, the only Indian in the entire draft is Unmukt Chand. The 2012 U-19 World Cup winning captain will become the first-ever Indian to feature in the BPL as he was signed by the Chattogram Challengers. Cricketers under contract with the BCCI are prohibited from competing in foreign leagues, however, Chand withdrew from playing domestic cricket in India in 2022 after agreeing to a three-year contract with Major League Cricket (MLC) in the United States.
