BPL franchise Durbar Rajshahi issue apology after players protest non-payment of fees
Negotiations are underway between the BCB and Rajshahi representatives.
Popular Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Durbar Rajshahi recently came forward and issued an apology for late payment of fees to their cricketers, they even revealed that they would be clearing fifty per cent of payment by January 16.
It is worth noting that the decision was made after Rajshahi players had cancelled their training sessions after the local players of the club protested about the unpaid dues. It is interesting to note that the foreign players and the coaching staff have already been paid 25 per cent of their total pay, but the team has been unable to keep up with their commitments to the local players. The BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) President, Faruque Ahmed, came forward and spoke to the board of directors and even had a meeting with the Rajshahi officials.
"We are committed from the team management to all cricketers that we will pay them by January 16 and the not practicing is not related with it. When we came here from Chattogram some cricketers got down in Dhaka to have rest and we didn't get the whole team in Chattogram. Some of them came last night while others came today," Jayed Ahmed, operation in-charge of the franchise was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
"One or two cricketers are yet to arrive. The cricketers wanted rest to the team management gave them rest. They will get the payment by January 16 and there is no doubt about it," he further added.
Negotiations are in process: BCB director Manjur Alam
Furthermore, BCB director Manjur Alam also came forward and briefed the media on the situation, he informed the reporters about the meeting held between Rajshahi representatives and the BCB president. Besides, he hoped that both the parties would arrive at a solution by tomorrow as the negotiations are underway.
