Brad Haddin feels India will play Kanpur-style cricket in Border-Gavaskar Trophy

The sheer manner in which India wrapped up the two-match Test series against Bangladesh in Kanpur was something which will be recalled for a long time. With two-and-a-half days washed out due to rain and a wet outfield, it seemed unlikely that India would be able to produce a result on play resuming on Day 4 of the game. However, the bowlers and batters attacked from the get-go, resulting in a brilliant seven-wicket victory achieved in a race against the clock.

Former Australian wicketkeeper-batter, Brad Haddin, recently commended the manner in which India approached the rain-truncated game at Green Park, and felt they might just stick to the assertive brand of cricket during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under. Although Australia have always been a force to reckon with, especially in the longest format and replicating similar heroics against them in their backyard will not be as straightforward. However, Haddin has a different opinion.

"I actually do (If India will play the same kind cricket in Australia). Because, if you look at this result, the worst result for India would have been a draw. There was no way India would have lost it. Rohit had nothing to lose. How good was it to watch! It's a wonderful way to win Test cricket. They gave themselves a chance to win the game. It was not about 'how many runs I score', it is about finding enough time to bowl Bangladesh out. They played a great brand of cricket, but it was all about giving them enough time. My hat goes off to the support staff, Rohit Sharma...he has always been this sort of captain: Win first. I love the style of cricket," stated Haddin, while speaking on the LisTNR podcast.

Haddin also was full praise for Rohit Sharma's frame of mind, and could not extol the Indian team enough for their effort.

"The mindset of Rohit Sharma to find a way to manipulate a result...teams are scared to go 10 runs/over in 20-over cricket! I take my hats off to India," concluded Haddin.
