Jasprit Bumrah has time and again come to India's rescue - regardless of the format in consideration. He has grown from strength to strength over time. In a plethora of instances, he has carried not only the bowling attack but the entire team as well. One case of this was witnessed in the 2024-25 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in which Bumrah spearheaded the bowling unit as well as the team. However, it wasn't meant to be in the end, with India losing by a 3-1 scoreline despite Bumrah securing the Player of the Series accolade for his 32 dismissals.

Former Australian wicketkeeper-batter, Brad Haddin, predicted that the ace Indian pacer will match the same stature of legendary fast bowlers of the game like Glenn McGrath and Wasim Akram, bearing in mind he continues delivering magnificent performances like the ones in the past, including the outings Down Under.

“By the time he finishes his career, we will be talking about him in the same breath as Glenn McGrath and Wasim Akram. He was that influential over the series. I wouldn’t put him on top of that league. He’s got a long way to go. He’s got 200 Test wickets. We hope to see him sometime. If he continues the same way he is going, his name will be in that conversation," shared Haddin on the Willow Talk podcast, a video of which is on their YouTube channel.

Bumrah's bowling displays for India against the Aussies were praised by a host of ex-cricketers and commentators. After the BGT, some Australians like Pat Cummins, Usman Khawaja, and Sam Konstas praised the speedster's unwavering grit and output. For the unversed, Bumrah bowled a whopping total of 151.2 overs in the nine innings he featured. A niggle in the back which was later diagnosed as a back spasm prevented him from bowling in the final innings of the five-match series.
