"There is no point in making controversy, they've shown it from four angles that the ball hit the gloves and its pace also decreased before Alex Carey caught it behind the stumps," said Khanna.

The recently-concluded fourth Test of the 2024-25 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy had its fair share of twists and turns. However, the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the fourth innings stood out as the defining moment for India, who eventually capitulated to a 184-run defeat at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
For the unversed, Jaiswal was ruled not-out by the on-field umpire for Australia's caught-nehind appeal to wicketkeeper Alex Carey. On reviewing, there was no spike on the Snickometer as the ball made its way past the edge and the gloves. The well-set batter was eventually delcared out based on visual evidence.
Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter, Surinder Khanna, was in no mood to entertain any sort of debate being made out of the dismissal. He event went on to label the people claiming Jaiswal was not-out as a "bunch of liars".
"There is no point in making controversy, they've shown it from four angles that the ball hit the gloves and its pace also decreased before Alex Carey caught it behind the stumps. Akash Deep also complained of a similar thing when he was caught out. 'Jhoothe log hai yeh' (these people are liars), you have to play fair first, and only then will you start winning," stated Khanna, as quoted by The Daily Star.

Let's hope that the luck changes in the new year: Khanna
Khanna blamed the brand of cricket played by the Indian batters for the loss, and hoped that 2025 paves the way for a fresh start for India.
"When the bat is in your hand, how can you not know about edging the ball? We have played bad and have hence lost. What kind of batting are they doing? Come the IPL, these players will score runs. Don't play over-aggressive T20 cricket and play positively. Let's hope that luck changes in the new year (for the Indian team)," he added.
Khanna's reaction comes after BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla opined that Jaiswal was "clearly not-out" while former Indian great Sunil Gavaskar claimed that the deflection could have been an optical illusion.
