Members of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) earn and relish the perks of having a job in arguably the richest cricket board in the world. According to a BCCI document, the office bearers which includes the president, secretary, and joint-secretary among others, will be entitled to a humongous sum of INR 40,000 per day for meetings within the nation and business class travel.

It is no secret that the BCCI not only pumps massive amounts of money for the development of the sport in the nation but also has massive returns. A BCCI office bearer’s post is regarded as an honorary one and employees like the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will get a daily allowance of USD 650 on foreign trips and INR 15,000 per day within India.

The allowances of the Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman have also been included in the brackets of the office-bearers’ category. The hike in allowances for the BCCI office bearers was proposed at the Apex Council meeting on Sunday, April 9, although it will come into effect in October. The office holder of the BCCI will have an allowance of $1,000 along with business-class travel for an abroad trip.

According to the BCCI document accessed by PTI, the office bearers will be paid a sum of INR 30,000 per day for ‘work travel’. The perks also include them booking a suite room both on domestic and overseas trips.

Three CAC members to get INR 3.5L for meetings

The Cricket Advisory Committee, which selects the head coach of both men’s and women’s national teams will get INR 3.5 lakh each for meetings. However, only three such members of the committee will get paid the amount and foreign travel is unlikely in their case. Despite this, each of the members is entitled to an amount of USD 400 per day for the trips.

Previously, the office bearers of the richest cricket board used to earn USD 750 per day on foreign tours. However, it is after seven years that the daily allowances (per diem) have been revised.
