After Cameron Green injury, I don't know what the dynamic of our bowling line-up is going to be: Mitchell Starc

Star Australia pacer Mitchell Starc recently came forward and shared his opinion about the absence of all-rounder Cameron Green from the squad. It is worth noting that Cameron Green underwent a season ending back surgery, and with his absence, the selectors are left with quite the hole to fill.

Green’s absence will have some effect on Australia’s pace attack, and in his absence, the Aussies’ bowling attack will surely have increased workload in the upcoming BGT 2024-25.

Skipper Pat Cummins had recently come forward to state that Australia will be looking to rely heavily on Green ahead of the international summer. However, Starc felt that with Green’s absence, a lot of the bowling dynamics and plans would change.

“It will always change the dynamic when you take a genuine all-rounder like a Cameron Green, or with England when you take a Ben Stokes, out. When you have that genuine all-rounder who has been part of a group for a while… you get into a bit of a routine of having that extra bowling option,” Starc was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

“I don't know what the dynamic of that line-up is going to be, there is a lot of talk around that opening spot and Mitch [Marsh] bowling as well. It's not completely foreign. We've had series in the past where we haven't had an all-rounder at all,” he added.

It is worth noting that the bowling attack of Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood, and Lyon have played in the last four editions of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and with Green gone, the four stalwarts of Australian cricket will be expected to feature once more. This time, however, with an increased workload.

The much anticipated BGT 2024–25 kicks off with India taking on Australia in Perth from November 22, and will be key for both sides in their quest to reach the World Test Championship final, set to be played in England in June 2025.
