India's emerged victors of the Champions Trophy 2025 as they beat New Zealand by four wickets in the summit clash in Dubai on March 9. This marked their third victory in the coveted ODI tournament, after emerging joint-winners with Sri Lanka in 2002 and winning the 2013 edition under MS Dhoni.

Speaking of what went down in the summit clash, India restricted the Kiwis to 251/7 after losing the toss. Despite the four dropped chances, the spinners came to the rescue, picking five of the seven wickets to fall, without conceding too many. Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets apiece while Ravindra Jadeja got one. Daryl Mitchell and Michael Bracewell scored a composed 63 and a brisk 53, respectively.

The run-chase was initiated in fine style as Rohit Sharma took the attack to the opposition and brought up a quick fifty. However, the sudden dismissals of Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli led to a slowdown. Rohit ultimately perished for 76 before Shreyas Iyer's sensible 48 and Axar Patel's crucial 29 steadied India's ship. Eventually, it was wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul whose coolness took India across the finish line without any further hiccups.
