Champions Trophy 2025: PCB confirms renovated Gaddafi Stadium will be ready by January 25

The historic Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium in Pakistan was undergoing renovation for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that the renovation process of the stadium will be completed by January 25 and a grand inauguration of the same is scheduled for January 27, 2025.
Gaddafi Stadium is one of the three venues in Pakistan which will host the Champions Trophy. The other venues are Rawalpindi Stadium in Rawalpindi and the National Stadium in Karachi, respectively. Naqvi also added that the the official inauguration of Gaddafi Stadium will be attended by several prominent figures. He also stated that the iconic stadium will see the installation of new scoreboards on both sides of the ground.
"The grey structure of the Gaddafi Stadium is now fully complete, with finishing work progressing rapidly,” said Naqvi as quoted by The Express Tribune.
On December 24, 2024, the International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the schedule for the Champions Trophy. It is worth noting that the tournament will be jointly hosted by Pakistan and Dubai as the Indian team refused to travel to Pakistan owing to security concerns. The tournament will be played between February 19 to March 9, 2025.
