It was a moment of celebration for the Indian fans and players during the Champions Trophy semi-final match in Dubai as they saw the back of Travis Head who was dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy while attempting a lofted drive in the long-off region. This was the end of the batter who had given nightmares to the team in the past.

The catch was taken by Shubman Gill who covered a good amount of ground and took the catch. However, the umpire Richard Illingworth went on to give him a warning after he released the ball straight after taking the catch. According to the rules of the MCC, the player in the act of taking the catch must be in total control of his own movement, and while Gill took the catch cleanly there was still a warning given to him for releasing the ball too early.

“The act of making a catch shall start from the time when the ball first comes into contact with a fielder's person and shall end when a fielder obtains complete control over both the ball and his/her own movement," the rule read.
