Aakash Chopra feels that the impending Champions Trophy 2025 is going to be the last ICC event where Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja will be in action. With increasing speculation around their potential retirement, Chopra feels the three veterans are unlikely to wait until India’s next ICC event, the 2027 ODI World Cup.
It is important to note that the trio retired from the T20I format after India won the T20 World Cup last year. Therefore, they won't be a part of India's plans in the 2026 edition of the T20 World Cup.
Chopra believes that the Champions Trophy could be the ideal platform for them to draw curtains down on their illustrious career in ICC events. The former India opener feels that the 2027 ODI World Cup is too far down the line and it would be unrealistic for the troika to aim at continuing playing till that event.
"I am saying with a heavy heart, there is a strong possibility. The Champions Trophy is about to happen and after that, there will be another ICC event this year, which is the WTC (World Test Championship) final and we haven't reached there. So none among Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja will play that," Chopra said while speaking in a video on his YouTube channel.
"After that, the ICC event next year is the T20 World Cup but all three have retired from that format. So all three won't play there as well. The ODI World Cup will be in 2027, which is a bit too far. The world will look very different by 2027. I think the players also feel this could be their last," he added.

Meanwhile, speaking of Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, they both are 36 years old, while skipper Rohit Sharma is aged 37. The three stalwarts of Indian cricket have not been at their best in the red-ball format of late. However, they performed well in the recently concluded ODI series against England and will look to guide India to a Champions Trophy title for the first time since 2013.
