Yuvraj Singh has smashed the fastest half century for India team in Champions Trophy history. He did so against Pakistan in the league stage game during the 2017 edition. As India started the Champions Trophy 2025 on a positive note, winning their first game against Bangladesh, the former cricketer has predicted that Men in Blue captain Rohit Sharma is capable of scoring a 60-ball century against Pakistan in the next game.

For the unversed, Rohit looked in good touch against Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20. The opener scored a quick 41 off just 36 deliveries on a surface which was very slow in nature. Yuvraj, who has seen the Mumbai batter debut and play alongside him, said that ‘always back my match-winners’. Rohit’s quick cameo was laced with seven classic boundaries coming off his bat.

“Rohit Sharma, whether in form or out of form, it doesn't matter to me. I would always back my match-winners. In ODI cricket, especially in white-ball formats, he has been India's biggest match-winner as a batsman, alongside Virat Kohli. If Rohit is struggling but still gets runs, that's dangerous for the opposition. If he's in form, he will score a century in 60 balls,” said Yuvraj via JioStar.

“That's his quality—once he gets going, he's not just hitting fours; he's clearing the ropes with sixes. He is also one of the best players of the short ball. Even if someone bowls at 145-150 kmph, Rohit has the ability to hook it effortlessly. His strike rate is always between 120-140, and on his day, he can single-handedly win you the game," he added.

It was the same edition in 2013 where Rohit was promoted to the opening position alongside Shikhar Dhawan. The duo became India's premier opening pair and went on to play a crucial role in India’s title win and became the preferred openers for the team down the years.
