Chittagong Kings' off-spinner Aliss Al Islam is once again under the scanner for a suspected illegal bowling action, placing his future participation in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in question. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed that Aliss has been reported by the umpires for his bowling action during a match against Rangpur Riders on January 17, 2025.

As per the current regulations, the bowler will have to undergo an official action test at the BCB facility in Mirpur on January 25. This is not the first time the off-spinner has been suspected of his bowling action. Back in 2019, during his debut season in the BPL, Aliss made headlines after taking a sensational hat-trick for Dhaka Dynamites against the Rangpur Riders.

However, just days after his impressive feat, he was reported for a suspect bowling action. A subsequent review confirmed that Aliss's action was indeed considered illegal. This led to a temporary break in his career, with the bowler being sidelined from competitive cricket for two years before making his return to domestic leagues.

Meanwhile, Aliss has taken 11 wickets in eight games in the ongoing BPL season. However, his progress has once again been hampered due to his bowling action.

Following his performance in the match against Rangpur Riders, the 28-year-old's bowling action was reported by the on-field umpires. BPL's Technical Committee Chairman, Raqibul Hasan, clarified the situation, confirming that Aliss would undergo a test on January 25 to determine whether his action keeps up to the legal standards set by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

"When umpires call someone's action and report it, it is sent to the suspect action committee. It has been sent to the committee. He [Aliss] will undergo the test on the 25th. But in between, he will be able to play. After his results arrive, a decision will come," Raqibul Hasan said as quoted by The Daily Star.
