The Rohit Sharma-led Team India are currently in the Caribbean nation to play a multi-format series against the West Indies. India's tour will begin with a two-match Test series which will be played in Dominica and Trinidad. After the Test matches, India will play three ODIs as well as five T20I matches.
Ahead of the start of the series, former India captain Virat Kohli said that he will definitely hang out with West Indies great, Chris Gayle. The 34-year-old added that Gayle most often invites the Indian team to his home when they are in Jamaica. Furthermore, he said that Gayle will invite them this time too, considering the latter's availability. Notably, Gayle and Kohli share a good camaraderie on and off the field, as they have played together in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the past.
"Well Chris, I have hung out with him for so many years. I am sure that when we are in Jamaica, we will definitely go and meet Chris. He always invites the team home to have a good time and just chill out.
"So I am sure he is going to do the same again if he is in town. Everyone loves him. We went last time as well to his place, we had a great time and he is such a humble guy. Definitely, if he is free and he is in town, sure we are going to catch up with him," Kohli said during an interaction in the 'Follow the Blues' show on Star Sports.
That for me was a very special moment, he met me in the evening and congratulated me: Kohli
When asked about his favourite memory of playing in the West Indies, Virat Kohli stated it was scoring his first-ever double-century in front of Vivian Richards in Antigua. The 34-year-old added that the game was very special to him since the Antiguan cricketer later met him and congratulated him. Notably, India won the game by an innings and 92 runs.
"My favorite memory obviously is Antigua. I got my first-ever double hundred in Test cricket in Antigua in front of Sir Vivian Richards. That for me was a very, very special moment and then he met me in the evening as well and congratulated me. It can't get any better than that."
