The India versus Pakistan clash at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, October 23 had everything that a die-hard cricket fan could possibly ask for.
Pakistan got off to a horrible start as they lost their skipper Babar Azam and his opening partner Mohammad Rizwan during the powerplay, in response, India were also in dire straits after losing four wickets in 6.1 overs.
What followed was former India skipper Virat Kohli taking the opposition by storm as he got into his zone. An unbeaten 53-ball 82 alongside a crucial 113-run stand with Hardik Pandya completely changed the game in the Men in Blue’s favour. India quite literally came back from behind and pulled off a brilliant win to get their campaign off to an absolute flyer.
Bashar hails Kohli's incredible knock
Kohli's knock has made headlines, and everyone seems to be talking about it, from fans to a wide array of former players. Among them is former Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar, who seemed elated by the sensational display from Virat.
“This is probably the best match I have seen in T20 cricket, not only India has won but the way they played the game, it was amazing. There is a saying ‘Class is always permanent, form is temporary’. What you saw yesterday from Virat Kohli, he is a legend!,” said Bashar on 'BatBricks7 presents Run Ki Runneeti show on CricTracker'.
"The way he handled the pressure was just amazing and you want to see these kinds of matches. Some shots played yesterday especially the six from the Haris Rauf over, was just amazing. I just loved it,” he added.
Kohli was going through a rough patch over the last two years. However, the right-hander decided to take a short sabbatical from the sport and has looked in his elements since his return.
Kohli required one big match to boost his morale and what better occasion than the ICC T20 World Cup? It can be concluded that the player has returned back to his form and fans will expect many such performances like the one against Pakistan in the upcoming matches.
