Coaches haven't got a lot of time, it is players' responsibility to help them settle: Rohit Sharma
“They have been good. They haven't got a lot of time. It is the players' responsibility to help them with results too, to make sure we are aligned with their thought process," Rohit said.
India’s coaching unit, particularly head coach Gautam Gambhir, has faced immense flak on social media following a humiliating 3-0 series defeat against New Zealand at home. The Rohit Sharma-led side had a terrible time with the bat in the entire series as they could never put the visitors under much pressure. The Black Caps did not have the servoces of Kane Williamson and Trent Boult but they still managed to come out on top by handing India their first 3-0 series whitewash.
This was India’s second whitewash defeat under Gambhir after Sri Lanka defeated them 3-0 in the ODI series. Questions have been raised on the coach and whether he is the right fit the or not. Addressing the same, Rohit mentioned that the coaching unit is very new and that it is the players’ responsibility to help them settle well.
“They [coaching staff] have been good. They haven't got a lot of time. It is the players' responsibility to help them with results too, to make sure we are aligned with their thought process. Too early to judge anything,” Rohit said in the press conference after India's 25-run defeat in the third Test in Mumbai.
Rohit unsure of his availability for Perth Test
Rohit is still unsure about his availability for the first Test against Australia in Perth. He informed the BCCI a couple of months back about the possibility of missing the first game. India have called Abhimanyu Easwaran as a back-up opener and he is expected to partner Yashasvi Jaiswal in Rohit's absence. Rohit mentioned that the situation hasn’t changed and he is still unsure about his availability.
