'Got the news first thing in the morning' – Corbin Bosch shares experience of 'super special' debut for MI in IPL 2025
MI got the better of LSG by 54 runs in a game where Bosch contributed with bat and ball.
Mumbai Indians (MI) claimed a resounding 54-run victory against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 45 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL2025) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, 27 April. The victory against LSG was MI's fifth on the trot this season, as they made their way to second place on the points table (prior to the conclusion of Match 46 of IPL 2025 between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru).
Corbin Bosch elaborated on why his IPL debut was a "super special day" for him. He also spoke about his experience of coming to bat and how he gradually shook off the early jitters after arriving at the crease in the first innings.
"I officially got the news first thing in the morning, super happy. It is a super special day for me. It is my brother's (younger brother, Eathan Bosch) birthday, so I wished him 'happy birthday', what a special day to make my debut. This Mumbai Indians team has been very special, really enjoyed the journey so far. My nerves were through the roof the whole time, but once I made contact with the ball, the nerves settled down," shared Corbin during the post-match presentation ceremony.

Willing to contribute as much as I can for the team: Corbin
The South African all-rounder also added how the atmosphere in the venue was enhanced due to MI's customary Education and Sports for All initiative. Notably, the South African contributed 20 off 10 with the bat in the first innings. As far as his bowling is concerned, he bowled a total of 14 dot balls in his four-over spell. Corbin's allotted quota entailed a wicket as well. Earlier in the day, it was announced that he was one of the two changes in MI's XI.
"I put a lot of work behind the scenes with my bowling back in South Africa. I am just happy to bat wherever the team needs me and willing to contribute as much as I can for the team. The crowd has been absolutely fantastic, glad that we could make this day a little special for them. Such a special initiative from the Mumbai Indians team," Corbin concluded.
