The T20 World Cup 2024 is set to kick off on June 2 in the USA and the West Indies. The highly-anticipated competition will also feature a clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan as both sides will face off in New York on June 9. The Group A clash will undoubtedly be one of the biggest attractions of the tournament. However, amid all the excitement for the clash, there has been some controversy around the exorbitant ticket prices.

Former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) and criticised the ICC (International Cricket Council) for prioritising profits over the promotion of the sport in the USA. Modi claimed that the ticket prices for the India-Pakistan clash are being sold for as high as USD 20,000 per seat in the diamond club section.

“Shocked to learn that @ICC is selling tickets for Diamond Club at $20000 per seat for the #indvspak WC game. The WC in the US is for game expansion & fan engagement, not a means to make profits on gate collections. $2750 for a ticket  It’s just  #notcricket #intlcouncilofcrooks,” Lalit Modi posted.

According to the ICC, the prices for the India-Pakistan clash range from UDS 300 to 10,000. Furthermore, a recent report claimed that the resale prices for the tickets have surged as well.
