The two-match Test series between Bangladesh and South Africa has been confirmed to be played in Bangladesh as per schedule after a few experts representing Cricket South Africa cleared the country during a security assessment they had regulated.

An "in-loco" inspection was conducted via the board's operations manager, team security manager, safety & security consultant, and a representative of the South African Cricketers' Association, and a report was prepared which was made on the basis of the survey conducted by the various individuals who visited Bangladesh last week, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

Earlier, CSA had been informed that the violence in the country surrounding anti-government protests had settled. However, the governing body conveyed that they would not be sending the Proteas contingent if any perils were identified during any of the security audits conducted.

The two-match series is slated to commence on October 21. The South African team is expected to land in Dhaka on October 16. The squad announcement is anticipated to occur later today.

While CSA have prioritized their own T20 franchise competition, the SA20, it has had repercussions on the longest format of the game. All six of their series in the current cycle (2023-25) of the World Test Championship have been narrowed down to two matches. Having only won two, lost three, and drawn one of their games, the Proteas will have to kick it up a notch to gain any chance to book a berth in next year's final at Lord's.
