The women cricketers will now be travelling in business class as well as will be given single rooms for staying in, similar to the way in which the West Indies men's team are being treated. This decision from the Cricket West Indies (CWI) is really an invaluable step in a bid to revolutionise the way women's cricket is perceived so far.
In the latest CWI board of directors meetings after the selection of the new president, Kishore Shallow, the decision regarding the West Indies women was taken keeping in mind the continuous evolution. Moreover, Shallow believes that CWI must also keep up with the pace of other cricket bodies around the world and also lead the way for establishing equality in the sport.
The committee's mandate will not be only restricted to suggesting some strategies for sparking interest but also taking initiatives in organizing events as well as competitions for fostering competitiveness in the game of cricket for women.
"The committee's remit will include but not be limited to recommending strategies geared towards increasing the interest and participation of women and girls in the sport, as well as proposing cricket competitions, events, and pathways that foster competitive women's and girls' cricket," CWI were quoted as saying by ESPN Cricinfo.
